Star Alliance has set the maximum baggage allowance for all member airlines. This implies that regardless of the airline under which a Star Alliance member airline operates the flight, the baggage allowance for the flight will be the same. The following is the baggage allowance for a one-way economy flight: one piece of checked baggage not weighing more than 23kg/50lb and not measuring more than 158 cm/62 inches in combined length, width, and height; one personal item not weighing more than 8 kg/18lb, and not measuring more than 40 cm x 30 cm x 15 cm/ 16 inches x 12 inches x 6 inches. Furthermore, travelers in business class may be allowed additional baggage, at no cost or at a lesser charge, depending on the airline. Passengers must inquire about baggage allowance and fees from the airline of travel.
